Become a 6S-ful follower of Jesus

Our mission as a church is to, “foster life changing encounters with Jesus through His people.” We believe that Christianity is all about following Jesus so we can become more like Jesus. But how do you do that? What can a person do to grow spiritually and become more like Jesus?

We believe that the ENVIRONMENTS you put yourself in, and the PRACTICES you incorporate into your life are significant keys to growing in your faith. Jesus never asked His followers to just believe something. He wanted them to behave something and become something. In other words, Christianity isn’t an ideology, it is a lifestyle. That’s why we challenge people at Connections Church to be “6S” followers of Jesus.

In the graphic above, you can see what each of those “S” words are. On the left are three ENVIRONMENTS (Sunday, Small Group, Serving) that we believe every Christian should plant themselves in. On the right are three key PRACTICES (Scripture, Sharing, Stewardship) that will cause a Christian to grow in their faith. Together, these 6S’s can bring transformation to someone who wants to follow Jesus.

Someone once said, “You can’t expect what you don’t inspect.” If you don’t set a goal and then measure your progress, it’s hard to identify growth in your life. The scale will help you do that when you want to get in better shape, your bank statement helps you do that when you want to save more money, and in the same way, measuring your engagement with the 6Ss can help you identify growth in your life. At Connections we talk about two lines to strive toward. A baseline and a goal line. A baseline is the foundation or bottom line in an area. A goal line is the ultimate goal in each area. Below you will find the baseline and goal line for each environment and practice (and some resource ideas for you).
